Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails have shared the full end credits for the HBO series adaption of the Alan Moore graphic novel, Watchmen. The first two minutes of the song were shown on the show’s premiere on Sunday, while the last two show are an extended instrumental of the track.
The first part of the tack features electro-industrial sounds with a roaring guitar sound in the background, bouncy synth sounds and rhythmic beat changes. The latter half of the track digs deeper into static-like, IDM, and ambient inspired sounds, from various sources, giving the track an avant-garde feel.
Reznor and Ross will be composing three different volumes for the soundtrack to this upcoming HBO series. The first volume of Reznor and Ross’ Watchmen is set to be released on November 4; Volume 2 is out November 25; and Volume 3 gets released on December 16. Digital dowloads and in-store vinyl for each volume will be available shortly after their respected release dates.
Both artists have composed numerous numerous soundtracks together over the years, such as: The Social Network, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Mid90s and Bird Box. Many of the films they have worked on over the years have been directed by David Fincher.
THeir soundtrack works has also been acclaimed, their soundtrack for The Social Network, garnered both Oscar and Golden Globe awards, while their soundtrack for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, garnered the duo an award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media.
