Hudson Mohawk and Lunice’s TNGHT Announce First New EP in 7 Years and Share New Song “Serpent”

TNGHT, the electronic duo consisting of Hudson Mohawk and Lunice have announced their first EP in seven years entitled TNIGHT II, which will be released on November 12 via Warp/LuckyMe Records. In addition to this new EP announcement, the duo have released a new song entitled “Serpent,” their first new single in six years, since the release of the track “Acrylics.”

“Serpent,” is an EDM trap song, reminiscent of the duo’s early work, with aggressive percussion, and a boom bap style that’s made ready for the club floor. The track also features eclectic steel drums, wonky synth lines and samples, and aggressive bass, which make the track a welcome banger to the pair’s discography.

“While it doesn’t sound the same as the first record—the energy is,” Lunice said in statement. “This could only come from us.” Hudson Mohawke further added, “I think it’s a good indicator if something sounds weird and refreshing to us. It’s got to fuck with us a little bit when we’re listening to it.”

Mohawke and Lunice met in 2008, and eventually formed TNGHT in 2011, which was followed by their self-titled debut EP release in 2012. The EP was acclaimed for its unique sound at that time, setting the blueprint for electronic based trap production, which was popular throughout the mid-2010s. Mohawke is a Scottish producer, dabbling in a variety of electronic and hip hop styles, while Lunice is a Canadian producer known for his blend of hip hop and trap.
