Jadakiss Debuts Grandiose New Track “Me”

Jadakiss the hip hop artist from Yonkers, released a new track, “Me” and a short film dedicated in loving memory to Ignatius “Ice Pick” Jay Jackson. The film is a near 10-minute short featuring Jadakiss and begins with the guys robbing diamonds then taking refuge in a coffee shop which leads to a shootout. Jadakiss is the last man standing and holds the diamonds in the end and says, “Icepick shared many great things with me. Things I take to the heart. The one thing I’ll never forget he said, is the most precious treasure you’ll ever hold is loyalty.”

The song begins with a female vocalist before Jadakiss breaks through rapping. The beat begins and verses drop while the vocalist drops the lyric, “Me” repeatedly. In one verse, the lyric says, “I don’t know, sometimes I look in the mirror and be like I don’t even trust you.” The song’s theme is about defending one’s own pride and confidence while people might be throwing negativity at you, the relationship with yourself is the most important. Jadakiss says, “I’m here baby, I’m one of the greats in Hip Hop. What you have to do is just ask the other greats.”

Before breaking out on his own, Jason Phillips aka Jadakiss gained his following alongside Styles P and Sheek Louch through The L.O.X. Releasing their Bad Boy Records debut Money, Power & Respect,  which debuted at number three on Billboard’s 200. Setting out on his own, Jadakiss  dropped his biggest hit single to day “Why” featuring  Anthony Hamilton from album Kiss of Death and earning accolades as well as controversy along the way. Adding another pivot point in his prolific career, he’s set to drop his fourth full length studio album Top 5 Dead or Alive on November 20.

For Top 5 Dead or Alive, Jadakiss says, “I got music for those who just got on board and those who’ve been there since day one.” Appearances from Future, Nipsey Hussle, Wiz Khalifa and more ensure the level of creative variety that’s defined Jada’s career. “I got stuff for those who want to get deep, those who want concepts and those want lyrics,” describes Jadakiss. “Top 5 Dead or Alive is something you can rock to. I’m taking you on a nice voyage that’s a gumbo of everything.”

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
