The Eaux Claires Festival will be having a spin-off event entitled the Eaux Claires Hiver, featuring performances from Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, Ani DiFranco, Jon Hokins and Poliça. These performances will take place from November 21st to the 24th across various venues in Eau Claire, Wisconsin
Vernon and the National’s Aaron Dessner founded the Eaux Claires Festival in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and launched the festival’s inaugural event back in 2015, which featured performances from Bon Iver, Doomtree and Charles Bradley. The festival took a break in 2019, after guests were reportedly underwhelmed by the 2018’s festival’s headliners, who were only revealed mere hours before the festival took place.
Poliça was announced after the initial line-up announcement, which accompanied an announcement for their new album When We Stay Alive, and the release of their two singles “Driving,” and “trash in bed.”
This interim event will host also host rare performances from the multi-media project 37d03d (which stands for people stylized backwards) who will be taking their music, literature and visual art projects across various venues across the city. Only 500 tickets will be available for the $80 event.
Vernon is also scheduled to have a talk with DiFranco during the festival for an event entitled Ani DiFranco and Justin Vernon in Conversation. TIckets will go from $30 to $100 for this event. DiFranco recently finished her No Walls 2019 tour dates, this summer.
“Ani DiFranco is the first person I ever heard of who wrote, arranged, engineered, mixed and released her own music,” Vernon stated in a press release. “She is a mind-blowing songwriter and inspiration. I want to ask her the questions I’ve always wanted to ask her; about her journey, her hardships and victories. And I want an audience there because the answers will be too special to hold on to as one person. AND…there will be some music….and surprise guests.”
