Tenacious D have revealed the release date for their highly anticipated collaboration with Jack White, entitled “Don’t Blow It,” which will drop on Record Store Day Black Friday on November 29th. This single features production from White, and will be released as a 7-inch vinyl on White’s label Third Man Records.
This vinyl pressing will also feature a B-Side entitled “Kage,” although it is unknown if White’s production is featured on this track as well. Earlier this year, Jack Black of Tenacious D revealed that he recorded song with White during a visit to the Third Man Records studio in Nashville, Tennessee.
Prior to this recording, the two members of Tenacious D introduced White as their new “merch guy” in a comedic post on Instagram. While both White and Tenacious D have been popular since the early 2000s, their stark musical differences; with Tenacious D performing as a comedy rock band, and White performing for many influential garage rock and indie rock groups, have made their meetings rare.
White’s influential garage rock duo The White Stripes released their final 2007 performance on streaming platforms earlier this year. Prior to this, his band the Raconteurs reached the number one spot on Billboard with the release of their latest album Help Us Stranger.
Tenacious D released their latest studio album Post-Apocalypto last year. This album held several tracks that were featured in the duo’s animated series of the same name.
