Rochester, NY band Full Body’s sound is loud and dissonant in equal measures as it is melodic and emotional. This juxtaposition is perfectly captured on their new full-length Always There, which is scheduled for released later this month on October 18. Today, we’re excited to premiere the second single from that album, a buzzy, noisy slab of alt-punk called “Alias.”
The guitars on “Alias” are sharp and punchy, shifting into a dissonant riff as vocalist Dylan Vaisey asks “are you beside yourself?” Ever so gradually the band builds melodic touches into the mix before you realize you’re listening to a full-blown fist-pumping chorus. Similar to like-minded artists like Speedy Ortiz or Pile, the riffs build on top of each other, creating a dense and constantly-shifting sound. There are just enough familiar refrains on “Alias” to hook in the listener but Full Body limit the repetition, leaving the listener wanting more.
Vaisey is joined by Jacob Kotler on guitar, Kyle Beam on bass and Jack Chaffer on drums for “Alias.” The lead single from Always There was “Looked at the Picture,” an upbeat, prog-influenced track with a shouted hardcore chorus, all clocking in at under two minutes. Always There is the follow up to the band’s 2017 debut, What’s Good?
