Morrissey Suggests Ejected Protester From Portland, OR Concert Was Planted by UK Press

Morrissey is continuing his long streak of controversy again, this time suggesting that the two protesters, who attended his show in Portland, Oregon, before they were ejected from the venue by the singer, were “planted” by the British Press. According to Stereogum, the singer posted on his own website: “… no ‘politically offended protestors’ (as paid for and planted in the crowd by the British press) in sight …” along with a picture of a crowd who attended his show in San Diego, California.

This statement came exactly one week after the two protesters were ejected from the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, where a protester was shown on video carrying a sign stating “Bigmouth Indeed,” along with an anti For Britain poster. The performer stopped to show, and refused to continue his performance until the protesters had been ejected from the venue in response to their protest.

“Get out! Get out! Get out! We don’t need you!” Morrissey stated in a video showing the confrontation. “We don’t need you! We don’t need you!”

This was done in response to the performer’s heavily publicized support for the For Britain political party, which was founded by prominent “anti-Islam” figure Anne Marie Waters. Morrissey was spotted wearing a pin in support of the party during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon back in May.

This is not the first time that the singer has gone after media outlets. Back in 2017 the former Smiths frontman blasted the media outlet Der Spiegel, after he made several statements which were seen as defending Harvey Weinstein, who is accused of sexual assault, and Kevin Spacey, who allegedly tried to seduce a 14 year old boy.
