that dog., Jack Black and Maya Rudolph are Stars of a Retro Sitcom in New Video for “Just The Way”

LA rock band that dog, have teamed up with Jack Black and Maya Rudolph, for their new music video, “Just The Way,” which will be featured on their forthcoming studio album Old. Old, the band’s first studio album in over 22 years, will be releaed this Friday, October 4th via UMe records.

This new music video parodies classic sitcoms of the 1970s and 1980s such as Three’s Company, with a dark spin. Black and Rudolph star as the landlords of the house, while that dog. members are shown to be a murderous trio, who stab Rudolph’s character to death, to everyone’s surprise. This video debuted on the comedy YouTube channel, Funny or Die, which has worked with prominent performers  such as Aubrey Plaza over the past decade.

Rudolph is set to feature on the band’s forthcoming album, alongside the likes of Randy Newman and Graham Coxon. She also appeared in the band’s mini-documentary released alongside their title track “Old” earlier this year.

While that dog. did not release a studio album in over two decades, they have spent much of this previous decade sporadically touring and debuting some material at live shows. The group went on hiatus from 1997 to 2011, and began recording some material around 2012, with some of this work expected to appear on this latest project.

“By the end of 2012 we had four songs done,” Waronker stated in a press release. “In 2013, we had a few more. We needed time to let it grow into what it would become. Sometimes it’s hard to get there. Which is kind of the theme of the album.”
