RCA Records has announced Death Stranding: Timefall, a new original soundtrack for the videogame Death Stranding that will be released by the record label on November 7th. This new soundtrack will feature a work from a multitude of different music artists, such as EDM acts Major Lazer and Alan Walker, R&B singer Khalid and the bands Bring Me The Horizon, The Neighbourhood and Chvrches.
Chvrches released “Death Stranding,” from this new soundtrack earlier today, which was honest to the band’s style, while blending their performance with elements of videogame music. This upcoming videogame is developed by Hideo Kojima, of the prolific Metal Gear franchise, and will be released exclusively on the Playstation 4.
“We were really excited about the opportunity to work with Kojima because we have been fans of his work for a long time. He has always been such a visionary in the gaming world and we were honoured to be involved in the project,” Chvrches said in a press statement.”The concept of “Death Stranding” is so unique and really felt to us like it was challenging people to care about the world they create — in the game and otherwise. We wrote this song specifically for “Death Stranding”, thinking of the themes of the game and what it is trying to say to people.”
Kojima is known for his eccentric style, which often blends elements from major Hollywood blockbuster films into his videogames. His dialogue and sense of humor have allowed his games to standout, and many in the videogame industry consider him an auteur due to his unique storytelling and game mechanics. This latest game features a protagonist named Sam Bridges, who is on a quest to save the remnants of a post-apocalyptic dystopian world, who serves as the last hope for humanity.
