Chukwu is the stage name of Toby Ekpunobi, an alternative hip-hop artist hailing from New York City. Today he releases his debut LP called Process and you can hear it here first in its entirety. The MC combines poetic verses with crate-digging instrumentals that are inspired by world music including Nigerian High-Life, Brazillian and Afro-Carribean sounds. Previously-released singles from the album include the final song on the seven-track album, “Free.”

Chukwu recorded Process along with Coleman Hughes and Patrick McGee, who mixed the album. His live band includes touring members of indie rock darlings Lemon Twigs, Sweet Joseph and Andres Valbuena.
