We are living in the age of psychedelic alternative music breaking the chains of traditional indie rock. The band Broken Bells has yet again come out with a smashing single, “Good Luck”. The two very talented artists behind the music of Broken Bells include James Mercer lead singer of The Shins and Brian Burton also known as the one and only Danger Mouse. They have been slicing and dicing up tracks together since 2009, and went gold with their first album release. Burton and Mercer were fans of each others music so they meet up in secret experimenting with their sounds and styles together. Thus, Broken Bells was born. Thankfully they shared their secret with the world.
Burton and Mercer have recently been realeasing their own individual projects. Karen O and Danger Mouse teamed up earlier this year for their collaborative LP Lux Prima and James Mercer has been assisting in co-producing an album for famed band Sonny and The Sunsets. Despite their busy schedules Burton and Mercer have made time to create a masterpiece.
“Good Luck”, is the third single dropped from the band since 2014 album release of After the Disco. Admirers have been commenting on the song with enthusiasm for the band to release a third album. There has been no comment from the band on whether there will be a third album. Either way fans are grateful for the release of “Good Luck”. This new song generates a vibration within the soul that instills a sense of empowerment. The song could be taken as a stab at political figures starting with the lyrics,
“Yeah, the face
The face of evil is on the news tonight
We see the darkness over light”
which entails an uncomfortably with where we are at as a society. The song goes on to say that the innocence within American culture is diminishing.

My heart your hands”
UPDATE (5/1): Broken Bells have released a new video for their song “Good Luck.” The video depicts a child stealing a $20 bill from his sleeping father’s wallet. He walks along a desolate highway, reading a roadside diner where he sits alone and has a to-go order delivered. Then things take a supernatural turn, with a large person sitting at the adjacent booth, glowing so brightly you cannot make out any of their features (besides their immense size). He brings home the change to his father, who is now awake and smoking a cigarette, but still in that same recliner. In another room, he intrudes on a man who apepars to be his older brother, who chases him out. Alone in the bathroom with a bloodied nose, he begins to glow himself, light radiating from his core. He then escapes from his less-than-ideal home life, joining fellow glowing figures in a late-night walk down the street to destinations unknown.
