Repenter is a Southern California rock band that revolves around two core members: vocalist Holly Winter and Thomas Scriven. Today, we’re premiering the second single from their upcoming EP, “Skeletons.” The song perfectly balances between experimental genres like shoegaze and more mainstream styles like alt-rock. The result is a song that’s equally challenging and accessible.
“Skeletons” follows the debut single by Repenter, “So Sick,” which was released earlier this year. Both songs were produced by Ross Robinson, who’s best known for producing albums by alt-metal bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit as well as more post-punk and experimental acts like The Blood Brothers and At The Drive-In. While other than having distorted guitars and playing in a heavier style, Repenter sounds nothing like any of those bands. However, they are able to offer up accessibility that could find them on Modern Rock Radio with just enough experimentation to keep the songs interesting and not cookie cutter. The band’s debut EP is expected to be released sometime in 2019.
