Babymetal Release Hypnotic Video for Eastern-Inspired New Song “Shanti Shanti Shanti”

Japanese kawaii metal band Babymetal have released a trippy new video for “Shanti Shanti Shanti,” which will be featured on their forthcoming album Metal Galaxy. This upcoming album will be released on October 11th, via BMD Fox Records  in Japan, under earMusic in Europe, and worldwide under their own Babymetal Records.

The music video features the use of a lot of fractal images, which are typically associated with psychedelic imagery and the idea of East Asian mysticism. Concert footage from the band’s live concerts are cut together with these fractal images, giving the entire visual a psychedelic feel, matching the songs instrumentation.

Instrumentally the song utilizes a variety of East Asian string instruments, along with some deeper orchestration, that blend well with the track’s metal and pop crossover styles. This presentation gives the song a sense of grandeur, and displays the bands willingness to push their sound into different territories.

Babymetal have been touring across Asia supporting a variety of metal and rock acts including Guns N Roses, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Metallica. They also held two massive performances at the Tokyo Dome, where they entertained a crowd of over 110,000 people, throughout both of the nights.

Earlier this year the band saw the departure of their former member Yuimetal, who they replaced with Kano Fujihira, who was unveiled during the music video for “Pa Pa Ya!” The band released an English version of their track “Elevator Girl,” earlier this year as well, where they displayed footage from their live shows.
