Ice Nine Kills Release IT-Inspired Short Film for New Song “IT Is The End”

Metal band and horror aficionados Ice Nine Kills have released a new track and short film called “IT Is The End,” which pays homage to the classic horror novel IT by Stephen King. This short film stars the band’s vocalist Spencer Charnas as Pennywise the clown, the titular antagonist in the horror novel.

The short film is nearly 15-minutes long, and pays homage to IT by prominently displaying the antagonist, and certain settings such as the cave, which is prominently featured in the novel and its adaptions. During the video, an upper-middle class man is kidnapped in his office after watching a cryptic video, and is forced to confront his demons and fears on a hellish amusement park ride upon waking up.

“The ‘SILVER SCREAM‘ film closes with a song that pays tribute to Pennywise the dancing clown from one of the scariest books and films of all time, IT,” Charnas explained in a press release. “Originally a novel by Stephen King, two very different films (both equally as brilliant) have been adapted for the screen. Jovial and friendly at first, Pennywise can switch to the embodiment of evil at the drop of a hat, so I wanted to capture that as best as I could in my vocal performance and in the video clip. Perhaps my favorite song on the album, it features incredible guest performances from two of my favorite bands of all time, Less Than Jake and Fenix TX. Will Salazar of FT, who co-wrote the chorus with me, does guest vocals and JR and Buddy from LTJ provide the sinister circus like horn section that enhances the twisted carnival of carnage that is Pennywise.”
