Leonard Cohen to Release Posthumous Album Thanks For The Dance Featuring Bryce Dessner, Feist and Damien Rice in November 2019

Leonard Cohen’s seductively husky lyrics have come back to captivate the music world once more. Even after his passing in 2016 from leukemia, this Canadian superstar’s emotionally powerful, evocative lyrics can be heard on a new posthumous album to be released on November 22nd! The album has been given the name, Thanks for the Dance. The album features many famous musicians Cohen worked with over the years, including his singer-songwriter son Adam Cohen. Leo has proven that when it comes to music, immortality has become possible. Thanks for the Dance is available for pre-order starting today.

In order to keep his moody voice and music alive post-death, Leonard thankfully passed the torch of music rights to his son Adam Cohen to continue releasing. Many of the songs on the new album have key elements of Leonard’s musical signatures. One song off the album was published in video format, just hours ago onto Youtube. The song is named, “The Goal”, and echos Leonard’s deep poetic voiced classic style. “The Goal”, features golden drawings and golden words written in Leonards handwriting. The use of popping gold images placed upon a deep noir background, bringing this song to life. Leonard was known to some as the man with the golden voice, so the use of gold represents him with endearment. Even from the great beyond, Leonard Cohen continues to captivate audiences with his thoughtful reflections on the human experience even after his mourning.

The album features a plethora of guest musicians such as Bryce Dessner, Feist and Damien Rice. Joining the younger Cohen on these records are vocals from Damien Rice and Leslie Feist, guitars from Bryce Dessner of The National, Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire on bass and Dustin O’Halloran on piano. These contributions were the fruition of Adam Cohen’s meeting with these musicians at Berlin’s PEOPLE Festival. Additionally, Daniel Lanois lended his genius to fill out the sparse arrangements and s t a r g a z e added orchestral arrangements.

The Goal, is a work of art that brings one of Leonard’s pieces of brilliant poetry to the spotlight once more.

I started my education after public high school at an Adult School. I wanted to receive my certificate in Physical Therapy. Eventually, I received my certificate and it motivated me to want to help more that just an individual. Continuing my education at Moorpark College, opened my eyes to the possibility of a career in Literary Arts. After receiving my Associates Degree in English, I sent out applications to many colleges. After being accepted to ALL of the colleges I applied to, I had to make a decision. I am now a student at Loyola Marymount University, and I also work part time at a Law Firm editing legal documents.
