The Avalanches Tease They’re Mixing LP3 with Instagram Post Tagging JPEGMAFIA, Dhani Harrison, Cornelius and More

Australian electronic producers The Avalanches have released a teaser on Instagram, stating that they are currently mixing their upcoming third LP. which was briefly announced in 2018. When the Instagram post is clicked, the names of several prominent artists including  JPEGMAFIA, Dhani Harrison, Cornelius, Naeem Juwan (fka Spank Rock) and Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux appear on their tags, indicating they likely collaborated on this project.

The group’s most recent studio album Wildflower was released in 2016, and was their first full length studio album in 16 years. In 2017 the group announced that they were officially working on their next LP, although the group announced that they were preparing for this LP the following year as well.

The band’s debut record Since I Left You, was released in the year 2000, and served as a landmark for electronic music and sampling based music. Backed by the success of singles such as “Since I Left You,” and “Frontier Psychiatrist,” the album was composed entirely of over 3,000 different samples taken from music, film, television and even music videos.

Their followup album Wildflower showcased the artist’s skill at sampling, but also provided unique instrumentation from the band in addition to a new host of guest features for the album. Prominent rappers such as MF Doom, Danny Brown and Sonny Cheeba of Camp Lo had features on this album along with electronic artist Toro Y Moi.

UPDATE: 10/3: The Avalanches have posted a studio update to their Twitter with a photo and caption that indicates they’re in the midst of mixing in Los Angeles.
