Stoner metal fans can rejoice, the Psycho Smokeout is back next year, and has released their 2020 lineup featuring acts such as Weedeater, The Obsessed and Acid King. This festival will open its second year at the Catch One Riff Compound on April 18th, 2020, and will feature a massive vendor market in addition to three stages.
This event is advertised as “420 friendly,” and is an 18 and over event. Tickets are extremely affordable, with early bird tickets starting off at $39 plus fees, with the next tier moving up to $49 plus fees, and he final tier will be $59 plus fees. Tickets can be purchased here.
Elder, Monolord, and Here Lies Man headlined the inaugural Psycho Smokeout, which took place on April 20th earlier this year. These dates coincide with what is considered “National Weed Day,” an unofficial holiday that is marked by recreational consumption of cannabis.
North Carolina stoner metal band Weedeater suffered loss last year, when their touring drummer, Carlos Denogean passed away. His cause of death remains unknown.
The band stated this upon Denogean’s death:
“There is no easy way to say this. Our dear friend and bandmate Carlos Denogean passed away yesterday. It is with a heavy heart and intense sadness that we bring you this unfortunate news. He left this world far too soon and will be missed immensely by all of us. Anyone that knew Carlos was enamored by his kindness and his warm personality.”
The Obsessed toured with Eyehategod during the fall of last year.
