Ozzy Osbourne Has Finished New Solo Album with Post Malone Producer

Heavy metal godfather Ozzy Osbourne is back with his first studio album in ten years, which is set to be produced by Post Malone producer Andrew Watt, according to his recent interview with UK publication The Sun. Watt produced Osbourne’s most recent collaboration with Post Malone and Travis Scott entitled “Take What You Want,” earlier this year.

“Take What You Want” was a massive commercial success for the 70 year old performer, as it landed him his first top ten hit in over 30 years. This track was featured on Post Malone’s most recent album, Hollywood’s Bleeding. While Osbourne had never heard of the hip hop artist before the collaboration, he agreed to do the song anyway, which led to Watt recording Osbourne’s next album.

“I’d never even heard of this kid. He wanted me to sing on his song ‘Take What You Want‘, so I did and then one thing led to another,” Post Malone explained in his interview with The Sun.”I started recording a new album with Post Malone’s producer Andrew Watt. It’s only nine tracks but it was a catalyst to get me to where I am today.”

This is set to be the performer’s first studio album in over a decade, and was recorded in around four weeks according to the interview. Osbourne explained how he had to adjust to the changing music landscape upon this album’s release.

“This is my first recording in a studio for ten years, so I do feel a bit out of touch. Music goes straight online these days and that’s quicker than it takes me to write a text,” Osbourne elaborated.”It’s all about downloads and streaming now. What the fuck does that mean? What’s Spotify? I thought it was a skin problem where you woke up spotified.”

The singer has faced his fair share of health issues during the past year, back in April the artist suffered fall which dislodged his rods that were put in place after his 2003 ATV accident, which required Osbourne to undergo surgery. This incident, along with prior bout of pneumonia, even earlier this year led him to cancel his No More Tours 2 Tour.

Osbourne explained that working on music helped him feel alive, and contributed to his recovery, stating:

“If it wasn’t for making this record I would still be on traction, thinking, ‘I’m going to be lying here for ever’. I’ve missed music so badly. My fans are so loyal and so good. Up until making the album I thought I was dying. But that got me off my arse.”
