mxdwn PREMIERE: Oh Sees Share Disturbingly Gory Stop Motion Animation Video for “Gholü”

It may be over a month until Halloween, but it’s never too early for a shockingly horrific music video. Today we’re premiering Oh Sees’ new video for their previously-released single “Gholü,” a rad bit of stop motion animation featuring some graphic scenes of claymation mutilation.

The video, which is semi-NSFW, features a hellish kitchen where humans have their faces cut off (appropriate, considering the name of the album is Face Stabber) and cooked over a stovetop. Later we see how the villain captures the prisoners that inevitably end up in the corpse grinder or oven, followed by some fairly gruesome acts of clay-on-clay cannibalism interspersed with religious imagery. Eventually, the monstrous person is revealed to literally be a monster, who then devours all of its captives in seconds. Check it out below:

The puppets were created by Natasha and Leo Nicholson, while the props and sets were created by Alan Barr. The song is a single from the band’s new album Face Stabber, another excellent psych-rock album from John Dwyer and company that finds the group expanding on their already-expansive sound, with 14 songs clocking in at 80 minutes of total music. They’ll be taking those songs and the rest of their dauntingly-deep discography on the road with them in the next month or so. They kick things off with three nights in a row at The Chapel in San Francisco and continue across the country from there. They’ll also be playing Thalia Hall in Chicago for two nights and Warsaw in Brooklyn for three nights.
