Esteemed actor turned accomplished jazz pianist, Jeff Goldblum, announces the follow up to his and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra’s debut album The Capitol Studio Sessions which was released late last year. Goldblum and aforementioned accompaniment are slated to release their sophomore album, I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This, on November 1st via Decca Records. According to Pitchfork, I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This “…will feature guests such as Fiona Apple, Sharon Van Etten, Anna Calvi, and others.”
As previously reported here on mxdwn, Europe’s largest festival Glastonbury this year featured Goldblum “…showcasing his talent for playing jazz piano with help from The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. He teased the crowd with the theme song from Jurassic Park when Sharon Von Etten joined him on stage to cover ‘Let’s Face The Music and Dance.’” The first single off I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This is a sultry smooth rendition of Irvin Berlin’s 1936 classic “Let’s Face The Music and Dance” featuring guest vocals by Sharon Von Etten.
Goldblum’s illustrious film career as an actor spans well over 40 years with his breakout film role being a home-invading thug in the gritty, cult crime-drama, 1974’s Death Wish. Since then, Goldblum has starred in a slew of films which includes major blockbuster hits such as 1994’s Jurassic Park as charismatic mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm as well his role as MIT-educated technician David Levinson in 1996’s Independence Day.
In the aforementioned Pitchfork article, it goes on to state that as of late, Goldblum “The actor recently announced that he would be starring in a new series called ‘The World According to Jeff Goldblum’ on Disney+.”
