Big Boi and Sleepy Brown Debut New Music Video for “Intentions” Featuring Cee Lo Green

Big Boi and Sleepy Brown are back, and they have recruited the help of former coach of The Voice, Cee Lo Green. This song, “Intentions,” is the first song off of the pair’s collaboration album, HITCO, which is set to drop later this year. These two indisputable legends have nearly three decades full of brotherhood, creativity and collaboration. So, they are beyond excited to bring fans this long-awaited album, HITCO. “Intentions” is just the first song off of the group’s record, promising more to come later in the year.

The new track is a melting pot of genre diversity. You hear hints of pop-funk that make you want to get on the dance floor and get your disco on, but right when you think about dancing the night away, the RnB-influenced soul sings right to your heart. Big Boy and Sleepy Brown really brought the 1970s club feel back to mainstream music with the infusion of their old school flow, Motown funk, and modernized lyricism. The song starts out with a sick bass riff that stays present throughout the entire song and then is complemented by some sort of air flute as the chorus builds up. The hook is sung by Sleepy Brown with some help from Cee Lo Green before Big Boy takes it back to old school rap with his acrobatic leaps from bar to bar. The last verse on the song is from Cee Lo Green, which also happens to be a freestyle from the Goldie Mob representative.

The Atlanta duo reunited earlier this year for a two-week sold-out tour which they declare is the biggest motivator behind their joint project, HITCO. They hunkered down in Stankonia Studios and started working on their long-overdue collaboration project. When asked about the project Sleepy Brown said, “We developed this sound together, We love that funk era, but also changing with the times. We wanted something upbeat and danceable, so we sped it up. I bring that smoothness, the butter on the popcorn.”
