Guitarist Michael Crain who has worked with hardcore bands Retox, Cunts and Dead Cross, has publically announced that he is battling cancer. Crain made this announcement on GoFundMe page, which will be sued to help raise funds for his medical costs while he is receiving treatment.
“Hey all! We really need your help here. One of our family is going through a very tough time. Michael Crain is one of the best people you could ever meet,” Ipecac Recordings wrote on social media. “We are proud to have him in our fold as a member of Cunts, Dead Cross, Retox, etc. His bills for this battle are piling up up with no end in sight. ANYTHING you can donate would be really really great and would help a lot. Please spread the word too.”
Crain has been a performer for over 23 years, performing with a multitude of punk and hardcore bands throughout his history. He was featured recently on the Dead Cross Kool Keith mashup of “Uncrushable” with “Church of the Motherfuckers.” His next band Cunts will be releasing their self-titled debut on November 1, and have released their first single “A Hero’s Welcome.”

“Many of you know our Ipecac family member Michael Crain (DEAD CROSS, RETOX, CUNTS).
On July 17th he was diagnosed with a form of cancer known as SCC or Squamous Cell Carcinoma after a routine surgery to remove a Bronchial Cyst. Since then, he underwent a bilateral tonsillectomy as well as multiple biopsy’s and tests.
At the end of September, Mike will begin radiation therapy coupled with chemotherapy.
Although the prognosis for his recovery is high, Mike (like so many others with health insurance) is now faced with a depleted savings account and increasing credit card debt just to cover his Kaiser co-payments. We created this GoFundMe page to help offset Mike‘s expenses so he can focus on getting well without financial stress.
Many of you know Michael Crain is a talented musician, but what you may not know is that he is a stellar human being. He is deeply involved in his home community, and can often be found rescuing dogs and people alike. We recognize that these are uncertain times. Taking care of our own is how we fight back. The personal is political.
