Danish indie rock band Efterkland have released a new song entitled “Uden ansigt,” a new single featured on Altid Sammen, which will be released on September 20 via 4AD/Rumraket. This will be the band’s first album in over seven years, and will also be their first Danish language album release.
This latest lyric video shows images of faceless statues across different periods as the song’s lyrics are displayed in Danish and English.”It’s spring time again/always by myself/and the joy of this place/ We could stay/without face,” the lyrics state, showing a sense of togetherness that the author hopes to achieve with the rest of humanity.
“The lyrics are like pictures to me, based on a moment I once had when biking in Copenhagen. It was raining heavily, everybody packed away under umbrellas, hoodies, hats etc,” the band’s vocalist Casper Clausen stated in a press release. “Faceless, genderless, ageless, colourless. My vision was blurred out and those bodies were moving through the street like faceless ghosts of a Japanese Anime movie, simultaneously haunted, alone and united at the same time.”
This latest track takes a more somber approach, as Clauson sings with profound emotion. This latest album is set to explore the deep interpersonal feelings of the band members, along with a sense of unbounded spirituality.
“Not in a religious way – none of us are believers of a defined religion. The words are searching for meaning in intimate relationships, in nature, in death and eternity,” Clauson explains. “The bonds we create; to gather, hold hands, sing or share a moment together. We’re all connected, across nations, age, sex and gender. We come together with all of our backgrounds, and we move apart in all sorts of directions, always together.”
