Goth pioneers Bauhaus will be reuniting for the first time in over decade with their original members Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, Kevin Haskins and David J for a performance at the Hollywood Palladium on November 3rd. Tickets for the event will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. PST.
While the band originally broke up back in 1983, the band held several reunion shows during the past two decades, with the first taking place in 1998 for their 20th anniversary tour. The group then made another appearance at Coachella in 2005, which was followed by a subsequent tour, a tour opening for Nine Inch Nails and their first studio album Go Away White in 2008.
The band’s lead vocalist Murphy has been celebrating the 40th anniversary of the group as part of his Ruby Tour, which took place earlier this year. Last year The Bela Session, featuring the band’s debut single “Bela Lugosi’s Dead,” and several previously unreleased B-Sides was also released for the group. This session encapsulated much of the pioneering sounds Bauhaus created which helped influence various genres.
“Living in the modern age of EDM and hip-hop dominating pop culture, Bauhaus’ sound still resonates with many. Although Bauhaus flatters our listening ears with two unreleased songs on The Bela Session, the band might be isolating themselves from contemporary genres,” mxdwn reviewer Elle Henriksen explained in her review. “Regardless, the decades of Bauhaus vinyl that still make it on our turntables for basement parties will spin indefinitely. Neglecting the modern age of music, Bauhaus basks in their past for a reminiscent disclosure of who they were and still are.”
