Multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated artist, Tove Lo, debuts her single “Really Don’t Like U” featuring iconic pop superstar, Kylie Minogue. Tove Lo is Sweedish singer-songwriter known for her genuinely raw, grunge-infused take on pop music, her autobiographically disconsolate lyrics have led her to be dubbed “the saddest girl in Sweeden.” Although her lyrics may reflect an unhappy image, the pop star has seen nothing but success. Signing to Universal Music, Island, and Polydor in 2013, Tove Lo released her debut album, Queen of The Clouds, which peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200. After that Tove Lo continued to see success with her follow up albums, Lady Wood and Blue Lips, even being called “Sweeden’s darkest pop export” by Rolling Stone. “Really Don’t Like U” is the fourth single released from Tove Lo’s fourth studio album, Sunshine Kitty. For her new single, Tove Lo recruited some help from pop icon Kylie Minogue.
Kylie Minogue has a long list of accolades that bestow her illustrious resume. Not only has she won a number of Grammy awards, but shes also won 17 ARIA music awards, 2 MTV Video Music Awards, 6 Mo Awards and was the first women in history to be recognized with the Music Industry Trust’s award for her successful 20-year career in music and was hailed an “icon of pop and style.” On top of that, Minogue has been awarded the Order of Australia for her achievements and merit in service to Australia. The pop icon was also awarded the Order of the British Empire for her contributions to arts, work with charitable and welfare organizations and public service. Being the highest-selling female Australian artist in history, it’s only right that she collaborates with Sweden’s darkest pop export to come out with a multi-cultural classic.
The two met at AMFAR event last year in Hong Kong and when Kylie mentioned she wanted to work with Tove she jumped at the opportunity. She wanted to make sure she created the perfect song for the two of them to collaborate on and was extremely excited to share, “Really Don’t Like U,” with someone she respects so much. Sunshine Kitty is set to release on September 20th through Island Records. Here is the tracklist for the album:
