A Mysterious Visitor from the Sea Arrives in New Video for Cult of Luna’s Massive New Song “Lay Your Head to Rest”

Cult Of Luna have released a new music video for “Lay Your Head To Rest,” the second installment and single from the A Dawn To Fear album and video series. This album is set for an upcoming September 20th release via Metal Blade Records.

This music video follows up from the previous single and video release for “A Silent Man,” which accompanied the album announcement. The single is aggressive, heavy and bold, featuring scorching vocals, hard hitting drums, and shredding guitar and bass chords, displaying the band’s abilities in top form. “Lay Your Head To Rest,” also features some striking visuals, opening up with a mysterious visitor who is about to drown, before they land on an abandoned beach where there are two children. The video shows the man entering a forest before he is lit on fire. The songs lyrics speak of an afterlife, which the narrator appears to be comforting as they ask their subject to “lay your head to rest beside me.”

A Dawn To Fear is set to be the group’s ninth album following their collaborative album with Julie Christmas entitled Mariner, which was released in 2016. In interview after Mariner’s release, band members had discussed ways to come up with creative ideas for this new project, although none of them were concrete at the time.

“It’s like every other creative process, you need to start somewhere to end up somewhere else,” the band’s frontman explained in an interview with Invisible Oranges in 2017. ” I just only have that idea of where we’re going. The last couple of albums have been very concrete when it comes to what we were inspired by and all that. You know, this is not gonna be a travel to the core of the Earth. It doesn’t have to be that kind of concrete idea. But, yeah. I know where I’m going at least.”
