Billie Eilish has released a new visceral music video for “all the good girls go to hell,” which is featured on her latest album release When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go, released this March. The music video is a scathing indictment of current environmental policies and the video is tagged to support the #ClimateStrike spearheaded by fellow teen activist Greta Thunberg.
This video is directed by Rich Lee and shot in Los Angeles, and is released ahead of the UN’s 2019 Climate Action Summit in New York City, and the #ClimateStrike. In the video, Eilish appears as an oil drenched fallen angel, who is grotesquely transformed at the beginning of the video. This visual’s use of body horror are made to show the harmful effects that greed, corruption and pollution have been doing to the environment for decades on end.
“Right now, there are millions of people all over the world begging our leaders to pay attention,” the performer stated on social media.”Our earth is warming up at an unprecedented rate, ice caps are melting, our oceans are rising, our wildlife is being poisoned and our forests are burning.”
When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go was a massive commercial hit for the performer, reaching number one on the Billboard 200, making her the first person born after the year 2000, and the third female solo performer ever to top the Billboard Alternative Songs airplay chart, alongside Alanis Morissette and Sinead O’Connor.
