It has only been four days since the release of Norman Fucking Rockwell, Lana Del Rey’s highly anticipated sixth studio album, but it appears that the artist won’t slow down any time soon. According to a recent interview, the artist is preparing to release another studio album next year entitled White Hot Fever.
“I’ve already written parts of it,” the musician told The Times in an interview regarding this latest project. “It’s called White Hot Forever, I feel like it probably will be a surprise release sometime within the 12 or 13 months.”
The artist also spoke on a possible collaboration with The National, who was referenced in the music video for “Doin’ Time,” earlier this month. “Well, I really like the National. His voice, I think about it… a lot.Every time a song is laying and I’m like, who’s that? It’s always them,” the artist elaborated further in the interview.
Norman Fucking Rockwell dealt with many themes of nostalgia, and was inspired lyrically by the singer’s move to the west coast. While the themes are influenced by her own experiences, she has also crafted several narratives throughout each track which discuss a larger story.
“The title track is called ‘Norman F—ing Rockwell’ and it’s kind of about this guy who is such a genius artist, he thinks he’s the sh– and he knows it and he won’t shut up talking about it. So often I ended up with these creative types — or not, or whatever — and they just go on and on about themselves and I’m like yeah, yeah,” the singer explained in an interview. “But there’s a little bit of merit to it, also. They are so good. I just like the title track so much that I was like OK, I definitely want the record to also be called that.”
