Hard Strictly Bluegrass has finalized their line-up additions, and a new set of security measures for the free annual festival, that take’s place in San Francisco’s iconic Golden gate Park. This year the venue will increase the presence of the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD), add fencing around the venue and have four new points of entry.
The points of entry will be hosted at JFK Drive and Transverse Drive, Fulton Street and 30th Avenue,
JFK Drive and 36th Avenue and South Polo Field. Only clear plastic bags measuring less than 16”x16”x8″ blankets and seats that are not more than 9″ from the ground will be allowed at the festival upon entry at 9 am. Coolers, which were allowed in the past are also banned.
In the past almost anyone could attend the music festival from anywhere in the park, without having to go through any security measures. The festival has stated that these new measures are in place to prioritize the safety of concert attendees.
“As the world changes, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass feels the need to respond, prioritizing safety over convenience,” the organizers stated in a press release. “We understand that these changes will make our event differ from years past, but are hopeful that our long-time fans will embrace these new rules and enjoy the performances as they always have.”
This year’s line-up features a variety of artists including Steve Earle, Meat Puppets and Calexico and Iron & Wine for the festival’s 19th year. This festival focuses on many traditional American “roots” musicians.
