1349 Debuts Blistering New Song “Striding The Chasm”

Norwegian black metal group 1349 have released a new single entitled “Striding The Chasm,” which will be featured on their forthcoming album The Infernal Pathway via NRK Norway. The group’s upcoming album will feature 11 new tracks from the group, and will also be followed by a North American tour this fall.

“Striding The Chasm,” is blunt and to the point when it comes to black metal, featuring hard hitting drums, bass, guitars and vocals, creating straight ahead metal to band your head to. This track is straight forward and will be sure to please any of the black metal purists that follow the group.

Earlier this year 1349 performed at Psycho Las Vegas, alongside a diverse line-up that included Opeth, Mogwai, Twin Temple and Beach House. The group is known for the straight ahead metal playing style, and the group have named acts such as Burzum, Thorns, Mayhem, and Darkthrone their main influences.

“People got too carried away by the attention by major labels and the more commercialized aspect of it, bringing in a lot of synthesizer themes and making it all sound completely wrong,” the band explained in a recent interview with Invisible Oranges. “It took a lot of the soul out of it. It lost the edge and the creativity that was there. It just started to be basically heavy metal with corpsepaint, and that kind of defeated the purpose of the genre. So that’s why I chose to do something about it instead of just complain about it like the rest of the world.
