The mysterious and sexy singer FKA Twigs has blown a kiss to listeners with word of her new album, dropping this year! This new album is meant to pour out the past, present and future love in the life of the singer. With an album name like Magdalena, all signs point to more phenomenal feminine power songs and deep-rooted emotional ties within the music. FKA explained to i-D in an interview, “just when you think it’s really fragile and about to fall apart, there’s an absolute defiance and strength in a way that my work’s never had before.”
Twigs has been living with trauma and pain since her 2017 surgery to remove tumors from her Uterus. Twigs also told a story that shortly after her surgery she had to work on a set and dance. The singer told i-D in an interview, “The tumors were pretty huge, the size of 2 cooking apples, 3 kiwis and a couple of [strawberries]. A fruit bowl of pain every day,” on Instagram. “The nurse said that the weight and size was like being 6 months pregnant.”
This artist has taken the scene by storm with her hurricane vocals that create a spiritual experience for the audience.
Twigs has been through it and allows her life experience to shine in her lyrics. Her music is heavily romantic. It is up to the discretion of the listener to connect the lyrics and the breakdowns into their own version of creamy emotionalism. FKA has appeared at huge festivals like Coachella. Her fan base on Instagram includes 1.4 million people. Her most recent post had her fans commenting about their excitement for Magdalena, coming out this year.
There is magic in her music. Between the falsetto and melodic trance-bound use of instruments breathes an adventure. There is life in the sounds that silk wraps the vocals like a blanket.
The new album will include the song “Holy Terrain“, featuring Future, and is predicted to hit number one within days of the album’s release. FKA Twigs continues to reach new heights of originality, and word over this next album is blazing through the music community like a wildfire.
FKA Twigs is not to be messed with. This British badass’s new album is bound to blow expectations out of the water.
