Cigarettes After Sex Debuts Single “Heavenly” and Details New LP Set for Release Oct 25th

Cigarettes After Sex have released their dreamy new single “Heavenly.” The track will be featured on their new second studio album Cry releasing Oct. 25 via Partisan Records. Frontman Greg Gonzalez discussed the new track in a press release, stating that  “Heavenly” was “inspired by the overwhelming beauty [he] felt watching an endless sunset on a secluded beach in Latvia one summer night….”

The band recorded Cry at a mansion on the island of Mallorca. “The sound of this record is completely tied to the location for me,” Gonzalez stated. “Ultimately, I view this record as a film. It was shot in this stunning, exotic location, and it stitches all these different characters and scenes together, but in the end is really about romance, beauty & sexuality. It’s a very personal telling of what those things mean to me.”

The album was influenced by films from Éric Rohmer, and songs from Selena and Shania Twain. It was self-produced and engineered by Gonzalez, and mixed by Craig Silvey, who has worked with Arcade Fire and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. See the full tracklist below.

The band will also be going on an extensive world tour, slated to begin Sept. 26 in Vancouver, BC. Other stops include Seattle, Los Angeles, Denver, back-to-back nights in Chicago, New York, Brooklyn, and Philadelphia, concluding Oct. 27 in Boston. The European tour will begin shortly after with shows in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Manchester, London and Bristol. See the full list of tour dates below.
