Santa Fe, New Mexico heavy metal group Old Man Gloom surprised fans when they debuted a new song at Psycho Fest 2019 in Las Vegas, as recent as a couple of weeks ago. The currently unknown track can most likely end up on the band’s upcoming studio album. This would mark new material from the band since their last offerings, which were two versions of their sixth and seventh studio albums respectively, 2014’s The Ape of God.
According to The Prp the band has been hard at work at recording new material for their eighth studio album, “The band were in the studio earlier this summer, tracking the first half of their new album with producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Isis). They’ll finish up the record in the not too distant future with Converge‘s Kurt Ballou at his GodCity Studio in Salem, MA.”
The band has endured a tragic setback with the passing of their bassist Caleb Scofield just last March. According to an article on MetalSucks.net, “This will be the band’s first album with new bassist Stephen Brodsky (Cave In, Mutoid Man). Brodsky replaces Caleb Scofield, who perished in a tragic car accident last year.”
The track can be heard during Old Man Gloom’s live set which was on August 17th according to the video below, via YouTube. The video is cued-up right when the band begins to play the new song.
