Mayhem Releases “Worthless Abominations Destroyed” and Begin Pre-Orders for New Album Daemon out October 25th

Legendary Norwegian black metal band Mayhem recently announced the release of its forthcoming sixth studio album, Daemon. The band has been teasing new music to fans and with an official album release date of October 25th the anticipation for new material comes in the form of their latest track, “Worthless Abominations Destroyed.”

According to an August 13th article on metalinjection.net  Daemon was, “…mixed by Tore Stjerna (Drawn And Quartered, Paganizer) at NBS Audio Studio, mastered by Thomas Johansson (Scar Symmetry, Soilwork, Miseration) at The Panic Room, and given awesome artwork by Italian designer Daniele Valeriani (Lucifer’s Child, Dark Funeral).”

The aforementioned track ‘Worthless Abominations Destroyed,’ now available on several streaming platforms, can be described from the offset as a heavy gut-punch of a song. The track wastes no time to display the tumultuous drums and heavy guitar strings that rapidly pierce the eardrums. The unrelentingly aggressive virtuosity of the band immediately compels their hardcore audience with this latest offering.

Mayhem’s infamous legacy precedes them with longevity that spans over 30 years going back to the band’s inception in 1984. The band has known its share of tragedies: Dead, the group’s lead singer, committed suicide in 1991. The 2018 semi-fictionalized film “Lords of Chaos” which was an adaptation of the 1998 book that detailed the ’90s black metal scene starred: Rory Culkin as Euronymous, Emory Cohen as Varg Vikernes, Jack Kilmer as Dead, and Sky Ferreira as Ann-Marit.  As of present the current roster is as follows: original founding member Jørn Stubberud “Necrobutcher” (bassist), Jan Axel Blomberg “Hellhammer” (drummer), Attila Csihar (vocalist), Morten Bergeton Iversen “Teloch” (guitarist) and Charles Hedger “Ghul” (guitarist).

As previously reported in metalinjection.net, guitarist Morten Bergeton “Teloch” Iversen had this to say about the forthcoming album, Daemon “I think this album will be most pleasing for old and new fans. As most of our devoted fans know, Mayhem has never released two albums that sound the same. That’s the case this time around as well. As I said, we simplified stuff, but at the same time tried out some new stuff to keep it interesting for ourselves and, also for our fans that dig that we are doing something new on each album.”
