Skrillex is back with his first official track since 2017, entitled “Midnight Hour,” featuring hip hop and R&B artist Ty Dolla Sign and Boys Noize. This latest single release follows up his track “Would You Ever,” which featured Poo Bear on vocals, and was released on OWSLA and Atlantic Records.
“Midnight Hour,” see Skrillex continuing with the R&B and deep house trend that was present on his 2017 singles such as “Would You Ever,” with the rhythmic snares in place, that follow up from bassy house drops. Ty Dolla Sign’s vocals sing throughout the track as Boys Noize brings in some added up beat flares onto this latest track.
Last month the artist dropped an EP entitled Show Tracks, which consisted of two entirely brand new songs “Fuji Opener” featuring Alvin Risk and “Mumbai Power” featuring Beam. While the artist has been releasing new songs, it is highly unlikely that he will release a new LP, according to his recent interviews.
“You know, people have been asking me about when I have a new album coming out, and it’s a little strange, because I never said I was making an album,” he explained in an interview earlier this year. “Over the last couple of years, I’ve been trying to step away a little bit. I wanted to take some time to prepare for my future and life as an adult, to figure out how I want to approach my career. I just wanna be human for a little bit. I’ll release some new music soon, but I’m just trying to do it organically. At the same time, I still love to make music, and I’m obviously working. I’m actually doing a residency in Las Vegas this spring and starting to do more shows, but I’m going with the flow and trying be in one place for a while. That’s my goal for the moment.”
