A Young Boy Watches Infidelity Unfold in Chastity’s New Video for “Flames”

Chastity, an up and coming indie band from Whitby, Ontario Canada have released their latest music video from their upcoming album Home Made Satan,  entitled “Flames.” This latest release features the same boy prominently featured in their videos for “Sun Poisoning,” and “The Girls I Know Don’t Think So” respectively. Home Made Satan will be released on September 13.

The track carries some clear inspiration from Johnn Marr of The Smith’s guitar playing style, with upbeat and joyous pop guitar chords, that contrast heavily with the lyrical subject matter. Lyrically the track discusses disillusionment with life, along with paranoia surrounding the outside world also permeating throughout the song.

A boy wearing a pink suit stars in this music video, as he walks into an upper-middle class dinner party held in what appears to be an American suburban home. While the boy sits on a couch and looks at the guests in a disappointed manner, one of the men in the video, is shown to engage in an affair with another woman at the party, where is wife is also attending.

Chastity released their most recent album project Death Lust last year, which was noted for its unique blend of album genres, and as a refreshing take on the emo music genre in general by some reviewers.

As mxdwn reviewer Christopher Fastiggi noted:

“Death Lust is as good of a debut as you can ask for. It creates a familiar sound while mixing many different genres to create a unique message. The album never withers and no two songs are going to sound the same. The specialty that Chastity is showing on this record though is the songwriting of Brandon Williams. Without him, this project is good, not great. With his lyrics, fans of post-hardcore and even shoegaze are going to fall in love with Death Lust.”

Stylistically, this music video serves as a prequel to the video for “Sun Poisoning and “The Girls I Know Don’t Think So” which can be seen below:
