Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails have been nominated for CMT award, on behalf of the Country Music Association, for the track “Old Town Road (Remix),” by Lil Nas X. While this track was shut out from most of the major music categories for the awards, it picked up a nomination for the Musical Event Of The Year.

Due to the fact that these awards go out to both the artists and producers,  Lil Nas X, Billy Ray Cyrus, YoungKio, Trent Reznor, and Atticus Ross are all up for the award. The song features an interpolation of a track off of the Nine Inch Nails compilation Ghosts I-IV and appears near the finale of that compilation.

“Old Town Road,” became a cultural phenomenon this year after it was knocked off of the Billboard Country Music award charts for not embracing “enough elements of today’s country music to chart in its current version.” Billy Ray Cyrus on the other hand, begged to differ and decided to record a remix with Lil Nas X that launched the track to number one on the Billboard Charts, where it became the longest running number one of all time.

Reznor and Ross have been busy composing numerous film scores in recent years, performing on the soundtrack for the hit Netflix film Bird Box earlier this year. The two are set to soundtrack new film featuring Amy Adams entitled The Woman in The Window, and have also hinted at a possible album release.
