Silvertomb Announces Debut Album Edge of Existence for November Release

Newly formed heavy metal band Silvertomb has announced its debut album, Edge of Existence, in the wake of Type O Negative and Seventh Void’s disbandment. Fans of both aforementioned groups can find solace in the creation of Silvertomb, as it picks up the mantel for the misfortunate events that eventually progressed their fates. Silvertomb spearhead’s the release of its debut album with heavy-hitting first single, “Love You Without No Lies“.

The current roster for Silvertomb consists of the surviving members of Type O Negative: Kenny Hickey also of Seventh Void fame (guitar, vocals) and Johnny Kelly (drums), Joseph James (guitar) of Agnostic Front and Inhuman fame, Hank Hell (bass) of Seventh Void and Inhuman fame and Aaron Joos (keyboards, guitar and backing vocals). According to an article found on HAIRBANDHEAVEN.ROCKS, the band’s debut album, “…explores Kenny Hickey’s personal struggles with addiction, love, and suicide, and the death of his singer and frontman Peter Steele in 2010 and subsequent disbandment of Type O Negative.”

As previously reported on mxdwn.com, in death breathes new life with the creation of Silvertomb. Type O Negative endured the passing of the band’s frontman Peter Steele, “Sadly the music journey of the four Brooklyn natives Kenny Hickey, Josh Silver, John Kelly and Peter Steele would come to an end on April 14th, 2010 when their lead vocalist Steele passed from heart failure. Later on that year the remaining members of Type O Negative decided to discontinue the band after losing their dear friend.”

The band’s inspiration for the album cover art for its debut was a nod to science fiction poster-art of the ’70s. According to HAIRBANDHEAVEN.ROCKS,  the album’s cover art”…was conceived by Joe James and Kenny Hickey. The idea was to capture the classic blacklight, sci-fi poster art popular in the 1970s. The central skeletal figure on the front cover was modeled after the famous images of the ascension of Christ, with Hickey posing for the image and the artist Rodrigo Canteras sketching the image of the robed skeleton over his proportions.”

Edge of Existence is set to be released November 1st, 2019 via Long Branch Records/SPV.
