For the first time in history, the “Godfather of Heavy Metal” Ozzy Osbourne releases a career retrospective vinyl box set. The nearly thirty-year discography of Osbourne will be celebrated and available in one complete set titled See You on the Other Side. The vinyl box set is due out November 29 via Sony Legacy.
The career-spanning package features some of the former Black Sabbath frontman’s deleted solo catalog back in print, Rolling Stone reports. According to Blabbermouth.net (CNN’s heavy metal and hard rock website), one of the collections in the box set comprises non-album tracks, “Flippin’ The B Side,” which have never been pressed to vinyl. Other collections include “Black Rain,” “Down To Earth” and “Scream,” which are the first time to be pressed in the States. “No More Tears,” however, will not be compressed on vinyl, the 1991 album was remastered as a two-LP set from the original flat analog album. The vinyl collection will be available on 150-gram, hand-pressed multi-colored splatter vinyl, containing 173 songs in total selected from 16 albums from 1981 to 2010. Besides a rich collection of classics, 10 newly designed posters (including previously unreleased images) will be released, and each accompanies the 10 studio albums from 1981 to 2010. The package also includes 12 augmented-reality experiences and an autographed certificate.
Speaking of the career retrospective box, Ozzy looks it as “one’s the most elaborate collections so far.” He says, “It’s very well thought-out and well put together. It’s got everything in there that you possibly could want and some surprises along the way. The sound of a vinyl record is different, and I do believe that vinyl sounds better.”
