Heavy metal godfather Ozzy Osbourne is no stranger to injuries, ailments and other levels of pain that he has suffered throughout his almost 50 years of performing. This time however, Osbourne stated that his recent post-surgery pain has been more agonizing than any other pain he has felt throughout his entire life.
Back in April of 2019, Osbourne cancelled his 2019 tour dates, after fall aggravated the injuries and dislodged the metal rods doctors had placed in him after a 2003 ATV accident. The past two years have caused Osbourne a lot of different difficulties, starting with him catching a potentially deadly staph infection, and even a bout of pneumonia earlier this year.
“For the first, say, four months, I was absolutely in agony,” he says in an interview with Rolling Stone. “I was in agony beyond anything I ever experienced before in my life. It was awful. I’m taking physical and occupational therapy classes, but the progress is very slow. They say it’s going to take at least a year. I’m hoping that I’ll be OK and ready to go by January [when the tour resumes]. I’m really keeping my fingers crossed.”
Despite these incidents, Osbourne is set to continue on and will embark on the No More Tours 2 Tour next year. This tour began back in 2018, and features Zakk Wylde, Bob “Blasko” Nicholson, Tommy Clufetos, and Adam Wakeman as his backing band. This tour takes its name after Osbourne’s first No More Tours tour which took place back in 1992.
