elbow Ruminates on the Banality of Death on Mellow New Song “Empires”

Elbow headline at The Greek with a 2 hour set

Elbow, the long-standing English rock band, has released the second single from their upcoming album, Giants Of All Sizes. The new single is titled “Empires” and was released alongside a lyric video on Youtube early on Wednesday. The song follows just a few weeks after the group’s announcement of the album, which was in early August, and the release of the project’s first single. The previous single was the album’s opening track, and was titled “Dexter & Sinister.” The full Giants Of All Sizes album is set to be released on October 11th.

With two years since their last album, 2017’s Little Fictions, fans of elbow have been excitedly waiting for more from the band’s upcoming album. Now they will get another taste of how the album will sound, seeing what direction the band will take nearly 20 years after their debut released. Making waves since the early 2000s, elbow has released various EPs and 7 full studio albums over the course of their career. The band is now moving into the next chapter of their story with this new project, adding another album to their extensive discography. The new “Empires” single is a slow, vocal heavy, track that sounds much more somber than the previously released single. Discussing a man who is falling apart over a failed relationship “Empires” diverges greatly from the 7 minute long “Dexter & Sinister” track. Longtime fans of elbow will definitely want to hear the new song for themselves and can find the lyric video linked below.
