Chris Brown’s Felony Battery Charges Dismissed

After his arrest last year in West Palm Beach, FL, from an incident in 2017, the state of Florida has now dropped the felony battery charges set upon singer Chris Brown. Pitchfork has confirmed via Hillsborough County court records that the charges have indeed been dropped. Brown made night club appearance in Tampa, FL on April 2017. According to TMZ, an alleged brawl between Brown and a photographer occurred that night. An in-house club photographer took pictures of Brown and his entourage as they arrived at the club. Brown’s team strictly told photographers not to take photos. Chris eventually made his way to the DJ booth, where the photographer started taking crowd shots from behind Brown, and when the singer noticed, it was alledged that is when the brawl broke out. It also allegedly resulted in the photographer getting a split lip, which led to the felony battery charges and arrest.

Earlier this year, Brown and two other men were arrested after 24-year-old woman accused the singer, his friend and his bodyguard of raping her at the Mandarin Oriental luxury hotel in Paris. Brown was released after posting $2,000 bail and pleaded not guilty at a subsequent hearing. He later filed a defamation lawsuit against the accuser, with his lawyer pursuing action against the accuser for her “slanderous accusation.”
