Vivian Girls Explore LA In New Video For “Something To Do”

The Vivian Girls are a vivacious trio who just released a new track, “Something To Do” from their new album, Memory set to be released on September 20 via Polyvinyl. This will be their fourth album following a hiatus, the band includes Katy Goodman, Ali Koehler and Cassie Ramone who do a great job in the video, each one running in various directions all over the City of Los Angeles.

They run through the house, neighborhoods, through alleyways and Downtown lunch areas as well as other cool spots in the city. Each band mate seems to have a look of sheer and utter panic, while flashes throughout the video seem to be rooted in a stationary spot where the band is rocking out on instruments set against a concrete blockade filled with graffiti which is so distinctly LA all around. At one point, two roosters peak their head through a chain link fence in wonder of what is happening.

The video was directed by Jason Lester, produced by Laura Burhenn with Cinematography done by Gus Gendinelli. The video was shot in 16mm and features a colorful cascading light in various scenes, which adds soft hues of color which give life to the video in more ways then one. Fans are thrilled to hear new music from this band with one saying she has watched the video more than 20 times in a row. The new album, Memory is described as being filled with personal reflections on toxic relationships, the false promise of new love, mental health struggles, and finding ways to accept oneself amidst it all. It’s a loud, snarling journey and there’s a sense of streamlined direction and intensity to the performances: it sounds like a band returning to a core idea of itself.

Vivian Girls just released another track recently called, “Sick” which is also featured on their upcoming album, Memory. The band has been described as being more aggressive and less apologetic than ever before. “Sick” is powerful indie rock track that easily qualifies as one of the group’s more engulfing songs. When they separated the band members worked with different projects, Ramone working on The Babies and Goodman forming the duo La Sera.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
