R & B star Khalid has just announced a hometown support show for his city, El Paso, Texas, a town where a recent mass shooting, which killed 20 people in a local Wall Mart, occurred. The show will take place on September 1st, where he will headline a benefit concert along with special guests at the Don Haskins Center in the city.
This show was put together with the help of The Great Khalid Foundation and manager Courtney Stewart’s Right Hand Foundation, and will be produced by Live Nation. The funds from this concert will bring support to the El Paso Shooting Victims’ Fund and the El Paso Community Foundation.
“I have been rocked to the core by the horrific act of gun violence that came to El Paso, and by the continued acts of senseless violence that our country faces daily,” Khalid stated in a recent press release.”I want to give back to my community of El Paso, the city of the 915, who has given so much to me. Please come out and let’s heal together through music while raising money to help those who need it.
On August 3rd, a 23 year old white male who admitted he wanted to “target Mexicans,” over fears of an “invasion” of the country by people of Mexican descent. For the first time in many years, officials are calling this shooting an act of “domestic terrorism,” as they continue to face several state and federal charges, which include life in prison and the death penalty.
While Khalid spent much of his early childhood which include Fort Campbell in Kentucky, Fort Drum in Watertown, New York, and Heidelberg, Germany, he spent the early portion of his music career in El Paso. The singer moved to the city with his parents during his junior year of high school.

I invite you to join us at the concert to honor and support the victims and their families.”
