Last week Lord Huron performed the Hollywood Bowl along with Shakey Graves. As part of the band’s two-song encore, they brought out singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers for a performance of their song “The Night We Met,” which was originally released as a contribution to Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why soundtrack. The recorded version of the song, which features Bridgers, was originally released in May of 2018.
In addition to being an accomplished solo artist, Bridgers has her hand in a few pots. Along with Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes fame, she’s a member of the duo Better Oblivion Community Center. The duo announced themselves and released their debut, self-titled LP earlier this year. She is also part of the trio of female musicians known as boygenius. That group made their debut with an EP at the end of 2018 and one song from it, “Me and My Dog” came in at #30 on our Top 50 Best Songs of 2018 list.
Lord Huron released a new album called Vide Noir in 2018. Not long after that album’s release, we had the chance to catch their set at the intimate locale of Apogee Studios in Santa Monica, a very different setting from their performance last week.
The Hollywood Bowl continues its 2019 summer season with upcoming performances by The Roots, Michael Kiwanuka, Cafe Tacvba, Gary Clark Jr. and more. Previous performances this summer included Chrissie Hynde, Nile Rodgers and CHIC, Chromeo and Toro y Moi, John Legend and Cyndi Lauper.
