Legendary indie band Yo La Tengo recently performed an entire live set of covers as their alter ego cover band, Condo Fucks. They performed the set at Union Pool in Brooklyn, New York on August 4th. According to BrooklynVegan, the diverse setlist began with a cover of “Experiment In Terror” by The Ventures, and concluded with “Frenzy” by The Fugs. Other standout moments included performances of “Wild Honey” by The Beach Boys, “It’s Too Late” by The Kinks, and “Bermuda” by Roky Erickson. Some of the show’s afternoon performers, namely 75 Dollar Bill’s Rock Brown and Che Chen, joined in on a few of the covers.

Yo La Tengo has been active since its formation in 1984, with their most recent full-length project, There’s A Riot Going On, being released just last year. There’s A Riot Going On is the group’s fifteenth studio album, and tenth consecutive release on Matador Records. Even more recently, the group has maintained busy live schedule with major performances at festivals like OctFest on Governor’s Island in New York City and an eight-night Hanukkah residency at the Bowery Ballroom in Manhattan.

Matthew Jordan: I grew up in Massachusetts, but I am currently a student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. I picked up my first musical instrument (viola) in the 3rd grade, and have been a fan of everything the medium has to offer ever since. Some of my favorite artists right now include Matt Maltese, Idles, MIKE, Benny the Butcher, Standing on the Corner, Built to Spill, and Frank Ocean. I also love following the charts and the music business to see what is connecting with listeners and why.
