Life Of Agony Announces October 2019 Release Date for The Sound of Scars and Shares New Video for “Scars”

Since their reunion in 2016 with their original lineup, Life of Agony has released one full-length called A Place Where There Is No Pain and has another on the way. Today, the band has announced the release date for their new album The Sound of Scars – October 11, 2019, which is almost exactly 26 years to the day from the release date of River Runs Red, their 1993 alt-metal masterpiece and debut record.

The release date of the new album is significant because The Sound of Scars will continue the story that started on the concept album River Runs Red. That story is about a young man who faces verbal abuse from his mother and suffers from depression. After his life continually gets worse, the record concludes with the protagonist killing himself in a bathtub, his mother screaming when she finds his dead body. It’s unclear in what manner The Sound of Scars will continue this story.

In addition to announcing the release date for their new album, Life of Agony has also dropped a new video for their song “Scars.” The song is exactly what you’d expect from Life of Agony, groove-heavy bass, slashing alt-metal guitars and Mina Caputo’s commanding vocal presence. The video showcases the band’s live show, with fans crowd surfing and stage diving as the four piece band rocks out. While it appears to be like a regular Life of Agony show, it does have a dream-like quality with lots of slow-motion and shots of people’s tattoos. Check it out below:

“Scars” follows the previously-released song from The Sound of Scars, a track called “Empty Hole.” Life of Agony will be on the road this fall and winter, with shows first in Europe and then in North America.
