Tracy Bryant is a Los Angeles based singer-songwriter who takes cues from artists like Lou Reed and Nuggets-era garage rock. Today, we’re premiering a rollicking acoustic track from Bryant called “Bury Me,” which takes a sparse sound and adds layers of psychedelic harmonies, organ and lead guitar. Check out the new song below.
“This song my wife and I wrote at home on acoustic guitar,” said Bryant. “When first brought into the studio, it didn’t seem to take shape and we put it aside. After revisiting the song months later, we brought it back into the studio where we laid down the guitar and vocals and approached the song from a less band driven idea. I came up with the opening organ part late one night in the studio as well as the electric guitar parts on the chorus and we called Nick (Murray) back up to play drums on the recorded song, bringing it to fit into the rest of the album.”
In a few weeks on August 30th, Bryant will release his latest album Hush. It was produced by Kyle Mullarky, who has worked with artists like the Allah Las and The Growlers, giving the record a sound that slots in nicely with fellow So Cal psych rock artists. The record was cut in the hills of Topanga Canyon, putting it in a lineage of acoustic rock icons. Bryant performs guitars, piano and vocals on the new album, with assistance from music veterans like drummer and percussionist Nick Murray (Cate Le Bon, White Fence), bassist Brian Allen (Burnt Ones) and bassist Kyle Mullarky.
