Caroline Polachek Announces Fall 2019 Tour Dates And Sets Sail In New Video For “Ocean Of Tears”

Alternative pop artist Caroline Polachek has just announcer a very limited performance run across 5 select cities in the United States and Europe, in support of her her forthcoming album Pang.  Polachek has just released a promotional music video for the song “Ocean of Tears,” which features her riding a pirate ship.

This video was directed by Polachek and Matt Copson, and shows the singer riding a pirate ship on top of the crow’s nest, where she appears to search for land. This emotional pop track, channels a lot of nostalgia for the somewhat comedic music video, which plays a lot of the tropes from pirate tales.

“I’ve had a longstanding crush on the pale color worlds of Monet’s snow paintings, and after visiting the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland this spring, was immediately inspired to morph those two zones into the perfect setting for ‘Ocean Of Tears'” Polachek explained in a press release.”After all, the song is wild and lonely…like a pirate’s heart.”

Earlier this year, Polachek released a new music video for the track “Door” which was her first debut single as a solo performer. She had previously done some work with the song “Ashes of Love” with Danny L Harle prior ton this single.

“I did a one-off single with Danny [2016’s “Ashes of Love”], and we had some sessions booked to write for other artists in L.A. I had this kind of revelation the night before—actually, I’d done quite a lot of mushrooms,” she explained in a Vogue Interview. “And while tripping, I thought, my time here is limited and I should be focusing on my own music. I emailed Danny at one in the morning to call it off, but he said, ‘Let’s just write for you then,’ which hadn’t even occurred to me. We got in the studio and made a piece of music that was so unlike anything either one of us had ever done before. We were both really taken aback by it, and it was really clear that we had a lot more work to do.”
