Korn Release Brooding New Track “Cold”

The Grammy award winning group KORN has had a very busy summer, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down. It was only few weeks ago that mxdwn reported that KORN released a music video for their new single “You’ll Never Find Me,” and now they are back with yet another new single.

According to a press release sent to mxdwn, their latest single, “Cold,” is available on most streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, and Amazon Music, and has an official visualizer that is now streaming on YouTube. “Cold” is a single from their upcoming album THE NOTHING, set to release September 13th, via Elektra/Roadrunner Records.

The song is amazing and completely catchy. Definitely NSFW, but worth a listen if you’re a fan of heavier music. The chorus of “Cold” is surprisingly light in terms of vocals and the instrumental backing, but not in terms of lyrics, and it is a nice contrast to the heaviness in the beginning of the song. The visualizer, which was directed and animated by Nicolas Fong, is trippy in the best way possible and invokes images of M.C. Escher paintings if they were edgy.

THE NOTHING can be preordered here, and this is what KORN’s lead vocalist, Jonathan Davis, has to say about the upcoming EP:

“Deep, within our Earth lives an extraordinary force. Very few are aware of the magnitude and significance of this place where good/evil, dark/light, bliss/torment, loss/gain and hope/despair all exist as one- pulling at us every moment of our lives. It’s not something we can choose to navigate, but rather an awareness of this ‘presence’ that surrounds us with every breath, as if we are being watched at every moment.  It’s the place where black and white energies attach themselves to our souls, and shape our emotion, choices, perspective and ultimately our very existence. There is a miraculous and small realm within this vortex and it’s the only place where balance between these dynamic and polarizing forces exists -where the soul finds its refuge. Welcome to…..THE NOTHING.”

Korn is currently on tour until October. Watch the visualizer for “Cold” below.
